Ai shares its love of great food through the combination of the purity of Japanese Zen cuisine with the complex flavors and techniques of greater Asia. A venue setting of refined elegance, where you can explore your senses and indulge in a seductive paradox. This restaurant, bar and lounge excels at crafting experiences born of innovation and a respect for purity in everything it does. Ai’s modern Asian menu changes with every season and uses only natural, sustainably sourced produce.
Today was my first time trying brunch at Ai, and it was a great experience! We originally reserved for 6 people but ended up being 8. The staff were so friendly and accommodating they helped us add two chairs to our round table without any issues. The food was amazing, especially the sushi. You can tell the fish is high quality and the rice was perfect. The hot section also had a great variety of proteins and veggies, from beef and salmon to asparagus and mushrooms. For dessert, the crème brûlée was my personal favorite! Given the beautiful design, the live band, and the food quality, the price is excellent. I highly recommend it and will definitely be back!
It has been 2+ years since I haven’t been to Ai. A friend of mine dragged me with her a few Saturdays ago for a birthday. While still a stunning place and maybe the only one like that in Beirut today, I won’t say other than I was very pleasantly surprised some things changed for the better!
My very first visit to Ai and it was very pleasant! Friendly staff, the bartender has a great memory for recognizing me from a previous restaurant visited and the Operations Manager Habib made sure to indulge us with special care! The food was very good specially the Duck salad, was my favorite item of the night and the veal in fried bread! Loved the 80's music tonight and definitely will visit again. Aiming for the next brunch!!!
I would say I have some mixed feelings. The place is very nice, the music was good, the service was amazing. As for the food...it is on the steep side... so you would expect an exceptional experience... which I didn't. The portions are not very big, the crab salad was average, the dim sum were mediocre, the shrimp tempura was good with a tasty wasabi dip, the spicy salmon roll was disappointing, the sauteed mushrooms were the best dish we had...exceptional, and the wagyu steak was very good. So overwhole you have to know what to choose.
Paid $200 for NYE and was assured a vegetarian menu. What I received: edamame (from the regular menu) and a bowl of lettuce. Meanwhile others at my table were served dumplings, sushi, sashimi, tacos, duck salad, nigiri… but no mains and no dessert were ever served. Unprofessional and absolutely unacceptable for the price.
